The Internet is a treasure trove of FREE legal research and information for practitioners in every practice area, and the SC Bar-CLE Division is proud to team up with USC School of Law Librarians Duncan Alford, Rebekah Maxwell, Terrye Conroy, David Lehmann, and Pamela Melton to give you a “guided tour” of the Web’s richest treasures. This program is designed for attorneys and legal support staff who want to become more efficient and adept at finding just the right case, statute, rule, or critical piece of information hidden in the recesses of the Internet. Specially priced for younger attorneys, the CLE Division is also proud to offer registrants the option to purchase the brand new second edition of South Carolina Legal Research and Citation by Paula Benson – at a $15 discount off the regular price.
Making the Most of Your Casemaker Access
Casemaker is an online library of legal research materials that include federal and state case law, the South Carolina Code of Laws, ethics advisory opinions, published and unpublished court opinions, and more. No-charge access to the Casemaker database is a benefit of active membership in the South Carolina Bar. Learn how to get started with Casemaker and how to use it to your best advantage.
Terrye’s Best List for Lawyers
Terrye Conroy, SC Bar member, law librarian extraordinaire, and former practicioner, guides you through the sites on the Free Web that she has found to be the most useful for legal practice. A site has to work hard to get on Terrye’s list, and once you’ve had the tour, you will have seen the Best of the Web.
Keeping Current, Keeping Up: Staying Up To Date On Legal Issues
Learn several simple ways to keep current with the latest legal news, cases, and trends. Learn how to pick and choose the kind of technology that best fits your legal information needs. Learn what free legal resources are available to you online to stay current. Become acquainted with legal blogs and how to access them. Learn how podcasts can be useful to a busy practicing lawyer.
Introduction to Zotero: Managing Your Free-Web Treasures
If you are researching on the Internet, one of the main concerns is the impermanent nature of web-based material.
